About LEARN WORK DEVELOP (LWD)

Learn Work Develop (LWD) is a nongovernmental organization created on November 5th 2013 by the VESEs (Volunteers for Effective Work and Sustainable Employment). LWD is legally allowed to operate in Rwanda with the legal personality No 153/RGB/NGO/LP/10/2017 of Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) provided on November 6th, 2017.

The mission of LWD is to promote effective and sustainable work among the youths and women, fighting against all forms of barriers to effective work like ignorance, early marriage, teenage pregnancies, climate change, social exclusion, HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

Livelihoods, Education, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Child protection, anti-Sexual and Gender Based violence (SGBV ) and social justice are fundamental to LWD’s work.

The main interventions of LWD are done under six programs including Education, Livelihoods, Health promotion, Biodiversity conservation, Child protection and Social justice.

So far LWD counts now 311 community volunteers supporting more than 10000 beneficiaries in different Districts of Rwanda (Kicukiro District in Kigali City, Rwamagana, Kayonza, Gatsibo and Bugesera Districts of Eastern Province of the country). Most of those community volunteers are working in Masenge Mba HAfi Program which is dealing with prevention and response to teenage pregnancies through SRHR as one of the big problems in the country.
