About Government of Makueni County

Makueni County is a sub-regional government in Kenya. Its is one of the forty seven Counties as per Schedule One of the Constitution of Kenya (2010). It is a sub-regional government. The County Government is situated in the South Eastern part of the Country bordering Machakos County to the North, Kitui County to the East, Kajiado County to the West and Taita Taveta County to the South. Located between Latitude 1º 35´ and 30 00 South, and Longitude 37º10´ and 38º 30´East, Makueni County covers an area of 8,008.7 KM2 which includes 153 KM2 of gazetted forests (Mbooni, Kilungu, Kibwezi, Nthangu and Makuli)

One of the major components of the Kenya Vision 2030 is to provide a high quality of life to all its citizens through highly participatory, consultative and inclusive stakeholder’s process conducted throughout the country and in all sectors of the economy.

Through the established network of volunteering institutions, which is the Volunteer Involving Organizations (VIOs) society, the IMV programs orchestrate building of synergies to foster the spirit of Volunteerism in Makueni County.

As a government we invest alot of resources in creating and enabling environment where volunteerism can develop and thrive.
